26 April 2018 - Ministers and Heads of International organisations met at the invitation of French President Macron for the International conference on combating the financing of Daesh and Al-Qaeda – No Money for Terror, in Paris, France, on 25-26 April 2018.

During the conference, FATF President Santiago Otamendi delivered a speech, Blocking terrorists' financial flows: Next steps, highlighting the steps countries should take to block terrorists’ financial flows.

The conference was an opportunity to raise awareness of the issues at stake and to strengthen the collective response against terrorist financing.

FATF has been leading global action against terrorist financing since 9/11. It has developed global standards to fight terrorist financing to which more than 200 jurisdictions have committed. As a result all countries have now criminalised terrorist financing and are taking concrete action to prevent, detect and disrupt this. But more needs to be done. FATF publishes its evaluations of the progress countries are making and will continue to help countries to take effective action while also holding them to account for doing so.

The FATF welcomes the final statement, which demonstrates the high-level commitment of participating jurisdictions and organisations to work together and choke off financial flows with links to terror. We look forward to further concrete action, including strengthened co-operation through public-private partnerships and above all a continued political will and capacity to act.
